Chacas to Carhuaz, Peru · April 2018
Three hours across the highest tropical mountain range in the world, and a snow storm at 4,680 m.
After days of rough backcountry roads through the Peruvian countryside, I finally reached the highest tropical mountain range in the world.
The ride from Chacas, on the eastern foot of the Cordillera Blanca, over to Carhuaz takes only three hours. Bendy roads, deep valleys, and a snow storm waiting at the top when I came out of the Punta Olímpica tunnel at 4,680 m.
